Lori Bell Quartet
The Wu Tsai QRT.yrd Concert Series kicks off this year with a celebration of Women in Jazz as part of the First Friday La Jolla Art Walk.
The Lori Bell Quartet is a straight-ahead quartet with an original approach to jazz standards, Latin/Brazilian, and original compositions. The group explores a plethora of grooves from bossa/samba, funk/fusion, Afro-Cuban, odd times and more.
Four female musicians join forces, taking jazz intuition to new levels; featuring three-time Global Music Award winner for performance in jazz, composing and arranging Lori Bell on flutes, with Melonie Grinnell on piano, Evona Wascinski on bass, and Monette Marino on percussion.

Danny Green Trio
Over the past decade, jazz pianist and Origin Records recording artist Danny Green has earned recognition as a bandleader and as a composer with a gift for spinning supple, absorbing narratives. Green’s growing portfolio of vibrant sounds—an enchanting mix of jazz, classical, and Brazilian rhythms—has garnered Green two San Diego Music Awards for Best Jazz Album and an additional award for Best Jazz Artist.
His long-time trio, joining him for the Wu Tsai QRT.yrd Concert Series, includes bassist Justin Grinnell and drummer Julien Cantelm, noteworthy musicians in their own right. Together they have developed a nearly psychic connection as they perform Green’s original compositions and jazz standards. Green takes listeners on a journey that is equal parts introspective and exuberant, and always compelling.

The Wu Tsai QRT.yrd Concert Series continues with Besos Jazz Trio as part of the First Friday La Jolla Art Walk.
Enjoy live swinging jazz and music from around the world with Besos Jazz Trio, featuring tap artist and percussionist Claudia Gomez, guitarist Beston Barnett, and bassist Evona Wascinski.

Arrive early for a lecture on “Engaging the Aging Brain through Music.” Registration is required to attend the lecture, but the QRT.yrd Concert, featuring Aviara Trio, will be free and open to all. Bring your lunch and enjoy live music in this gorgeous setting.
Comprised of violinist Robert Schumitzky, cellist Erin Breene, and pianist Ines Irawati, the exciting Aviara Trio has made an indelible impression on the musical landscape of Southern California for the past decade. Most recently, the trio was honored to perform at the Hollywood Bowl on Celebrate LA, Los Angeles Philharmonic’s 100-year anniversary celebration.
