Live Performances Return to The Conrad! Join us online
La Jolla Music Society (LJMS) announced updated spring programming today, shifting the remainder of the winter season to live streamed performances and online community engagement events, the latter of which are free to the public. The revised season includes 12 concerts and events — including chamber music, piano, jazz, and family programming — streamed live from The Conrad Prebys Performing Arts Center. Additionally, LJMS will offer remote educational opportunities for students around San Diego County, the details of which will be announced in the coming weeks.
“Our spring digital line-up represents a beautiful snapshot of the multi-disciplinary programming we had planned for this season. Even though we have faced a multitude of challenges during the last year, the relationships we have fostered with our artists have allowed us to reimagine our season and remain steadfast in our commitment to presenting live performances and to the audiences we serve.” – Leah Rosenthal, Artistic Director
With the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra Septet with Wynton Marsalis, Yefim Bronfman, The Joffrey Ballet, and a special chamber music concert featuring SummerFest Music Director and pianist Inon Barnatan, violinist Philippe Quint, & cellist Alisa Weilerstein, this spring line-up of captivating digital performances highlights the programmatic breadth of LJMS’ season offerings.
This transition to online performances and community engagement events allows LJMS to present unparalleled performing arts to a broader audience in San Diego and beyond. Last summer, LJMS shifted its SummerFest season from the concert hall to the internet, offering a series of online chamber music concerts that served not only the local audience but also reached far beyond San Diego. Online performances and activities bring The Conrad into the homes of audience members from across the nation, while free events provide access to those who may not be able to purchase tickets during this challenging time.
“La Jolla Music Society has proven its ability to think creatively and respond quickly by offering online programming that was artistically compelling and beautifully produced at The Conrad. Directing live-streamed content is a complicated process, but due in large part to the foresight of the Board, staff, and architects, we were fortunate to have designed our state-of-the-art performing arts center to include technologically advanced built-in high-definition cameras, studio quality audio, and a video control center. These advantages have allowed us to connect with our audiences during this time and will continue to enable us to reach music lovers, both locally and world-wide, who enjoy exclusive concerts streamed directly from The Conrad.” – Todd Schultz, President & CEO
