Murmurs In Time: Third Coast Percussion & Salar Nader, tabla

Third Coast Percussion commissioned the late Zakir Hussain to compose Murmurs in Time–a major new work that combines the beauty and complexity of Hindustani classical music with the singular sound world of this GRAMMY® Award-winning percussion ensemble. Salar Nader—a renowned tabla virtuoso and disciple of Hussain—will perform the piece with Third Coast Percussion as a tribute to the composer’s profound legacy. This special concert presentation also includes newly commissioned works from acclaimed composer/performers Jessie Montgomery, Tigran Hamasyan, and Jlin, as well as a solo tabla performance by Nader in honor of Hussain.

This concert is part of our ProtoStar Innovative Series.

This performance replaces the previously announced event with Zakir Hussain and Third Coast Percussion. The Conrad joins the world in mourning the loss of renowned musician Zakir Hussain on December 15, 2024. Zakir previously performed at The Conrad in 2019 and 2023, both times to the wild acclaim that was his due as a globally acknowledged award-winning master of the tabla. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family and his wide network of friends and colleagues.
