For a Great Artist

Prelude Performance by Balourdet String Quartet · 6:30 PM

Part of

Tchaikovsky wrote his epic and moving piano trio “In memory of a Great Artist,” referring to his close friend and mentor Anton Rubinstein. Italian composer Luciano Berio described his set of folk songs as “a tribute to the artistry and the vocal intelligence” of his wife at the time. Both composers, through reflecting on the work of others, reveal something intensely personal and telling about themselves.
