Tyrone Allen
Since moving to New York City in 2018, bassist Tyrone Allen II has established himself as a “generational talent” and one of the scene’s most versatile musicians. Recognized in the 2024 DownBeat Critics Poll as a Rising Star with the Sullivan Fortner Trio, Allen’s career spans high-profile jazz stages, international tours, and the Broadway pit. Allen’s extensive sideman credits include jazz luminaries such as Terri Lyne Carrington, Jazzmeia Horn, JD Allen, and Ralph Peterson. He currently holds the bass chair for the Tony Award-winning Broadway production of Moulin Rouge! The Musical. As a bandleader and composer, Allen explores diverse sonic landscapes through his solo project TY.000 and the Tyrone Allen II Quartet (TAiiQ). He served as the 2024 Artist-in-Residence for Tribe for Jazz and was a founding co-leader of the group BRAHIM!. Following a landmark 2025 residency at the Village Vanguard with Sullivan Fortner, Allen released his debut LP, UPWARD, in Spring 2026. The album, co-produced by Allen and longtime collaborator Abe Nouri, marks a significant milestone in his evolution as a premier voice in creative music.
