Stefan Jackiw

Stefan Jackiw is a leading American violinist, praised for his “uncommon musical substance” and “intelligence and sensitivity.” He has soloed with major orchestras including the Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, New York, Philadelphia, and San Francisco symphony orchestras. Jackiw’s recent recordings include Charles Ives’ complete violin sonatas with Jeremy Denk, which The New Yorker hailed as setting “a new standard,” and Beethoven’s Triple Concerto with Inon Barnatan, Alisa Weilerstein, and the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields conducted by Alan Gilbert. This season, Jackiw reunites with Barnatan and Weilerstein at London’s Southbank Centre, and also appears with the Pittsburgh Symphony, the Baltimore Symphony, the Seoul Philharmonic, and the San Diego Symphony under Rafael Payare at the Rady Shell. A dedicated chamber musician, Jackiw is Artistic Director of the Hawaii Chamber Music Festival and frequently tours with The Junction Trio. A recipient of a prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, Jackiw plays a violin made by Domenico Montagnana “ex. Rossi” c. 1730, generously loaned by a private foundation.
