Sarah Skuster

Sarah Skuster is the principal oboist with the San Diego Symphony and has appeared as a featured soloist with the orchestra on several occasions. Skuster previously served as interim second oboe with the Dallas Symphony and as second oboe in the Akron Symphony. She has appeared as guest principal oboist with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, San Francisco Symphony, and as a substitute with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. She has performed at the music festivals of Ojai, Mainly Mozart, Music in the Mountains, Festival Mozaic, and Tanglewood. She is on faculty at the Hidden Valley Seminars Festival of Winds, and has also taught at Interlochen Arts Camp, John Mack Oboe Camp, and the San Diego Summer Music Institute. Skuster earned a Bachelor of music degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music as a student of John Mack and attended Mannes College where she studied with Elaine Douvas. Skuster is a lecturer at San Diego State University, the oboe instructor at Point Loma Nazarene University, and maintains an active private teaching studio.
