Ricardo Morales
Ricardo Morales, Principal Clarinet of the Philadelphia Orchestra, Saito Kinen Orchestra, and Mito Chamber Orchestra, is highly esteemed for his virtuosity. He previously served as principal clarinet of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra at age 21 and has performed as guest principal with the Berlin Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony, and New York Philharmonic. A featured soloist with numerous orchestras, including the Met Opera Orchestra and the Chicago Symphony, he premiered Jonathan Leshnoff’s Clarinet Concerto. An active chamber musician, Morales has collaborated with the Juilliard Quartet and the Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio, and artists such as Emanuel Ax and Gil Shaham, appearing at festivals like Santa Fe and Seattle. His debut solo recording, French Portraits, is available on Boston Records, and his recordings with the Pacifica Quartet received a Latin GRAMMY® nomination.
