Owen Dalby
Praised as “dazzling,” “expert and versatile,” and “a fearless and inquisitive violinist,” Owen Dalby has cultivated a dynamic career as a soloist, chamber musician, and educator. As a member of the acclaimed St Lawrence String Quartet (2015–24), he toured extensively across North America and Europe, contributing to celebrated recordings like Haydn Opus 20 and Korngold’s Piano Quintet. Before SLSQ, Dalby co-founded Decoda, Carnegie Hall’s affiliate ensemble, and served as concertmaster for Novus NY and the Trinity Baroque Orchestra. Highlights include his Lincoln Center debut performing Lou Harrison and premiering Timo Andres’ double concerto with the Albany Symphony. A former fellow of Ensemble Connect, Dalby is currently Artist-in-Residence at Stanford University and co-directs Noe Music in San Francisco. Dalby performs on the “Fetzer” Stradivarius made in Cremona in 1694.
