Kaylet Torrez, horn
Venezuelan horn player Kaylet Torrez is known for her versatile career across the orchestral and film music worlds. A product of Venezuela’s acclaimed “El Sistema,” she spent a decade touring internationally with the Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra under Gustavo Dudamel, performing in venues such as Carnegie Hall, the Berlin Philharmonie, Royal Albert Hall, and La Scala. In 2014, she was appointed Principal Horn of the National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia, and later received a full scholarship to the Colburn School in Los Angeles. Since then, she has performed with major orchestras including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony, San Francisco Symphony, London Symphony, and Seattle Symphony. She has also served as guest principal horn with both the LA Phil and San Francisco Symphony. In addition to her orchestral work, Torrez is an active studio musician in Hollywood. Her horn playing can be heard on numerous film scores including Superman, The Lion King, Avatar, Jumanji, Minions, Aquaman, Predator, and Transformers. She currently holds the position of Assistant Principal Horn with the Pacific Symphony Orchestra.
