Coleman Itzkoff
Hailed by Alex Ross in The New Yorker for his “flawless technique and keen musicality,” cellist Coleman Itzkoff thrives at the intersection of multiple musical worlds—from cutting-edge contemporary works to Baroque repertoire on period instruments. A versatile soloist and chamber musician, he brings equal commitment to premiering new compositions and exploring historical performance practice. Since becoming a founding member of the American Modern Opera Company (AMOC) in 2017, Coleman has been a key creative voice in shaping ensemble visions, and his work with the ensemble has led him to explore acting, dancing, and theatrical collaboration. He is also a core member of Ruckus Early Music and Twelfth Night Ensemble. Coleman performs regularly at leading festivals including Marlboro and venues such as Carnegie Hall and London’s Wigmore Hall. Throughout his career, he has been committed to bringing music to broader audiences, receiving the Sviatoslav Richter Grant for Music Outreach and the Cleveland Clinic Arts and Medicine Award.
