Cherry Yeung
Violinist Cherry Choi Tung Yeung, Associate Principal Second Violin of the San Diego Symphony Orchestra, secured her first orchestral position at just 21. She has performed with the New York Philharmonic and served as concertmaster for The Juilliard School and Curtis Symphony Orchestras, leading the latter at Carnegie Hall during the 2020 Curtis on Tour. A laureate of the Michael Hill International Violin Competition and the Alice and Eleonore Schoenfeld International String Competition, Yeung also won first prize at the Hudson Valley Philharmonic String Competition, leading to engagements with the Hudson Valley Philharmonic and Orchestra Sinfonica Rossini di Pesaro. An artist at the prestigious Marlboro Music Festival, she recently toured with the Four Seasons Chamber Music Festival and was invited back to Caramoor’s “Evnin Rising Stars” program. She has also appeared at the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, Music Academy of the West, and Meadowmount School of Music, collaborating with luminaries like Jonathan Biss and Mitsuko Uchida. In 2018, she was named a New York Philharmonic Global Academy Zarin Mehta Fellow. Yeung plays on a 1768 Pietro Giovanni Mantegazza.
