Ayano Nakamura

Violist Ayano Nakamura has won second prize at the 2025 Washington International Strings Competition, the Prize for the Best Interpretation of a piece by Bohuslav Martinů at the 2025 Oskar Nedbal competition in Prague, and the 2023 A Far Cry Collaborative Competition. As an avid chamber musician, she has participated in many festivals in the U.S. and Europe, such as Kronberg Chamber Music Connects the World, NUME Festival Academy, Verbier Festival Academy, Edinburgh International Festival, Gstaad String Academy, and Perlman Chamber Music Workshop. She has collaborated and performed with established artists including Andreas Brantelid, Merry Peckham, Gary Hoffman, Mathieu Herzog, and A Far Cry Chamber Ensemble. Nakamura has performed as a soloist in masterclasses for artists including Tabea Zimmermann, Antoine Tamestit, Lars Anders Tomter, Matte Szucs, Steven Tenenbom, among others. Originally from Hudson, Ohio, she is a graduate of the New England Conservatory and Yale School of Music. This fall, she will continue her studies at Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel as an Artist in Residence, under the direction of Miguel da Silva.
